Apple Podcasts User Guide
Open the Podcasts app on your Mac Podcasts menu at the top left corner of the screen Preferences. Now, ensure that the General tab is selected. Then, click on the drop-down menu next to Automatically Download Episodes option. Another benefit of using Apple Podcasts app is its integration with Siri. You can just call the voice assistant to listen to podcasts on your iPhone, Mac, or even HomePod. Another awesome feature of Apple Podcasts is “Stations” which allows you to create your personal stations of favourite podcasts and listen to them using your iPhone or Siri. In fact, opening the app is required to read podcast reviews or access Apple’s trending charts. But the move does make the arguably outdated media management platform much less necessary.
Podcasts are free audio shows that you can stream and play on your Mac. You can listen to individual episodes, or you can subscribe to a show so that new episodes are automatically downloaded as they become available.
Your podcast subscriptions, stations, and current play position sync to the Podcasts app on all your devices when you sign in with the same Apple ID. Refer to See your podcasts on all your devices.
- I love this app it’s just works It’s probably was the best application when it’s come to listening to Podcasts, I’ve used iHeartRadio and Apple Podcast, IHeartRadio doesn’t work half the time and it’s takes forever to get a podcast to load I don’t like the lay out of iHeartRadio and apple podcast take my Storage because the podcast are so large when you have to download them.
- Tap My Podcasts, tap a podcast, tap, tap Download Episodes, then tap an option. To change the default setting for all podcasts, go to Settings Podcasts Download Episodes. If the automatic download setting is selected, turn it off, then force close Apple Podcasts as detailed here: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Listen to an episode
In the Podcasts app on your Mac, click Listen Now (or any item) in the sidebar.
Hold the pointer over the show or episode you want to play, then click the Play button .
When the episode plays, you see the playback controls at the top of the Podcasts window.
Do any of the following with the playback controls:
Skip ahead or skip back within the episode: Drag the progress handle right (to skip ahead) or left (to skip back), or use the Touch Bar.
You can also use the Skip Back button to go back (in 15-second increments) and the Skip Forward button to skip ahead (in 30-second increments) in the episode.
Tip: You can customize the amount of time an episode goes back or skips ahead. See Change Playback preferences.
Pause the episode: Click the Pause button (or use the Touch Bar).
Click the Play button to resume playback (or use the Touch Bar).
Change the playback speed: Choose Controls > Playback Speed, then choose a speed.
Change the audio output: Click the AirPlay button to choose which speakers to use to listen to the podcast.
Manage the episode (for example, copy the link, share the episode, or go to the Show page): Hold the pointer over the episode playing, click the More button , then choose an option.
Note: If you added the episode to the library, you can do even more to manage the episode—for example, add it to the Playing Next list or save it. See Choose episode settings.
Read the episode description: Click the Episode Notes button .
You can also press the Space bar to play, pause, and resume playing a show (or use the Touch Bar).
Ask Siri. Say something like:
“Forward 15 seconds.”
“Continue playing the last podcast.”

Use the Playing Next list
While listening to podcasts, you can use the Playing Next list to view and change which episodes (or chapters within an episode) play next.
In the Podcasts app on your Mac, click any option in the sidebar.
Hold the pointer over a show or episode, click the More button , then choose Play Next or Play Later.
The show or episode is added to the top of the Playing Next list (if you choose Play Next) or the bottom of the list (if you choose Play Later).
Click in the top-right corner of the Podcasts window, then do any of the following:
Play an episode (or chapter within an episode) in the list: Click the episode or chapter.
Note: Some podcasts include chapters within an episode, which allow you to jump quickly to a specific part of the episode.
Change the order of episodes you manually added to the list: Drag episodes with the Reorder button .
The Playing Next list appears onscreen until you click again to close it.

Podcasts are episodes of a program available on the Internet. Podcasts are usually original audio or video recordings, but can also be recorded broadcasts of a television or radio program, a lecture, a performance or other event.

Podcasts usually offer each episode in the same file format, such as audio or video, so that subscribers can enjoy the program the same way each time. Some podcasts, such as language courses, include multiple file formats, such as video and documents, to teach more effectively.
For podcast listeners, podcasts are a way to enjoy great content from around the world for free. For podcast publishers, podcasts are a great way to reach a wide audience.
Apple does not directly provide podcast updates or episodes. When you subscribe to a podcast using the Podcasts app for iOS, or using iTunes on your Mac or PC, you are subscribing to the podcast updates by that particular podcast producer. With iCloud, you can synchronize your podcast subscriptions across all devices.

How can I get started with podcasts on my iPhone, iPad or iPod touch?
The Podcasts app for iOS provides easy access to popular and featured podcasts using the navigation icons at the bottom of the app.
To subscribe to a podcast, tap Subscribe on the page for that podcast. To play a podcast, tap on any episode. To download an episode, tap the iCloud icon in the episode list.

How can I get started with podcasts on my Mac or PC?
The podcast directory in the iTunes Store allows you to find and subscribe to new podcasts.
To subscribe to a podcast, click Subscribe on the page for that podcast. When you subscribe to a podcast, iTunes will automatically check each day for new episodes.
You can also stream an individual episode from the iTunes Store by clicking its episode number in the episode list.
You can manage your podcast subscriptions and play the episodes you have downloaded in the Podcasts section of your iTunes library.

Do I need an Apple ID to listen to podcasts?
No. An Apple ID is only required if you want to make your own podcast available on the iTunes Store.
Can I subscribe to a podcast that isn't available in the iTunes Store?
Yes. In iTunes, choose Subscribe to Podcast from the File menu and insert the podcast feed URL for that podcast. In the Podcasts app for iOS, enter the feed URL into the search field in My Podcasts.
How do I unsubscribe from a podcast?
In the Podcasts app for iOS, you can manage your podcast subscriptions in My Podcasts. Select a subscribed podcast, tap Settings, and turn off the Subscription setting.
On your Mac or PC, you can manage your podcast subscriptions in the Podcasts section of your iTunes library. Select a subscribed podcast, click the Settings gear icon, and deselect the Subscribed checkbox.
